The words say exactly what the site does

गणित (ganit) is the word for mathematics across Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Nepali and several other languages, all of it descended from the Sanskrit root gaṇana — to count, to reckon. शिक्षा (siksha) means learning, teaching, education, from the Sanskrit śikṣā. Put them together and the name is not a slogan or an invented tech word. It is a plain description: the learning of mathematics.

Maths has never belonged to one country

The digits on your keyboard travelled from Indian mathematicians through the scholars of Baghdad and North Africa into Europe — which is why they are called Hindu-Arabic numerals. Zero as a number, the decimal place system, and early work on trigonometry and algebra all moved along that same road. A Sanskrit-derived name on a site for European, Middle Eastern and African students is a small nod to a route that maths has already travelled, in that exact direction.

It is easy to say and impossible to confuse

Getting something out of one formula

Four minutes with a single formula beats an hour of scrolling. Try this.

  1. Read it out loud

    Say the formula as a sentence, not as symbols. “Area equals pi times the radius squared.” If you cannot say it, you do not yet know it.

  2. Name every symbol

    Cover the symbol legend and list what each letter stands for, including its units. Most exam mistakes are a mixed-up symbol, not broken algebra.

  3. Put one number through it

    Invent the simplest possible example and work it through. A circle of radius 2. A loan of 100 at 10 per cent. Small numbers expose a misunderstanding immediately.

  4. Find it in your own week
